So, I think you all know by now, that "I do all my own stunts", or at least that's what my shirt says. Here's a little video of me, displaying some of my new tricks . . .

Peek-a-boo!

I'm think she's pretty cool, as far as little sister's go. :)

The big difference is, I just don't get as much shut-eye as I used to, what with all the diaper changing and feeding all the time.

In other news - we just went to the NICU reunion to see my old friends from the hospital - no not the horse, silly, the doctor's and nurses and babies I hung with for 80 days after I was born.

Remember my first girlfriend, Emily! Or "Em" as we used to call her. Well, she's still a cutie pie. But I got no love from her. I did get a hug from Sophie though - I think she liked how I played hard to get.

I also got to ride in a real firetruck!! SO FUN!

But I spent most of the day in the jump house!

It was good to see everyone and show off my Little Sister, since I'm the BIG one now. Reminded me just how amazing it is to be here and be healthy.

Laurel Tayden Rose was born on August 26th at 9:09 am. She weighed 7lbs and was 20 inches long.

So mom's been on bed rest for 8 weeks, and now we are less than three weeks from baby Laurel's delivery day (8.26.10). The doc said mom could do more now - Hooray! And we are all getting so excited to meet Laurel. So we decided to take some fun pictures while mom was on bed rest to give to Laurel when she arrives . . . Dear Laurel,
I can't wait to give you a big kiss and sing to you the "Happy Birthday" song (I've been practicing) when you are born. I want to be a good Big Brother to you - I'll always protect you and love you, even though I'll have to toughen you up too (a big bro requirement). Can't wait to show you how to dance and do somersaults! We are going to have so much fun!

Learning to share . . .

So, I'm already having to share my mom with my Little Sister . . . The doctor decided it was best to put my mom on bed rest three weeks ago. So, mommy's laying down at a 45 degree angle or less to keep my little sister from showing up early, like I did. But the good news is that while she's been laying low, we've had lots of family and friends over to take my mind off it. Here's me hangin with my friends Luke and Lane:
Mom's so thankful for all the help. Daddy's been "Super Daddy" these days too, but we are all making it work and are thankful that Laurel is still inside mommy's belly, safe and sound. Mommy is 31 weeks tomorrow, so we still have a ways to go. Please keep us in your prayers.
Hugs and Kisses! (this is my new favorite thing to say). BTW, I am talking non-stop, and counting to 19 and learning my colors. And now since I'm such a big boy, my mom and dad gave me a big boy bed! It is awesome, with cool monkey sheets and a step to get into it. Sometimes my parents find me in the living room on the couch in the middle of the night, or quietly staring at them while they are sleeping. I guess that kind of freaks them out, but I sure like the new freedom!

Sorry, it took so long to tell you the news, but my parents have been hogging the computer. :)

Anyways, here is how my parents found out . . .

They went to their favorite special occasion dinner spot on the San Diego Bay (Island Prime) and when they arrived gave a sealed envelope with the results of the sonogram to the waiter.

After a delicious meal, the excitement was mounting . . . it was with dessert that they were to find out if I was going to have a little brother or sister.

The waiter brought out the dessert with a pink umbrella and pink candle that said congratulations in chocolate . . . and then handed us the card below as he said, "You are having a GIRL!" My mom asked him to say it several more times, because she wasn't sure she was hearing him correctly - and as soon as it sunk in, the tears started flowing . . .

They read the card and it was confirmed. My mom yelled out, "I really wanted a girl!" I guess it just hit her at that moment, how much a girl would mean to her. Dad welled up with tears too . . . this little girl is going to melt his heart. Good thing they have me around to keep them grounded!

And through many prayers this pregnancy is going very well and Laurel is growing and doing great! Mom is now 22 weeks pregnant and still doing workouts with Dad. God is good.

Life in the fast lane is pretty exciting, but it hasn't left me much time for my blogging. So, for those of you who have been asking for updates . . . here's a few from the past four months:

I went to the NICU reunion and saw some of my old friends, rode on a pony that was just my size and loved playing in the petting zoo area with daddy. All my friends were doing pretty well, but most still weren't walking yet and some had mild health conditions.
Overall, we were all very grateful to be there and it was fun to go inside the NICU for the first time as a healthy BIG boy and visit the two twins and their family that are now in the crib that you all helped donate for my birthday. What an amazing gift - thank you!

Summertime Facts & Fun

Happy 4th of July, from the BIG KAHUNA!

I just had my second developmental tests done and I am happy to report that I am right on track, even with my three months age correction. So, though they tested me as a 13 month old, I ended up being more developmentaly on track with my birth age of 16 months. The Doctors were please with everything, except my weight. I am still a little guy, tipping the scales at a mere 18lbs. My dad thinks I am solid muscle - must be all those squats I'm doing. :) Anyways, they gave us some eating tips for fattening up, but I'm a pretty picky eater - so we'll see how that goes. (Keep this in your prayers :) )

I would much rather dance than eat . . . here's me doing my favorite pasttime:

Summer's been awesome so far - I went on my first plane ride (BTW - I did great - loved the turbulance - just made me giggle like on a rollercoaster) on a trip to Hawaii that we were supposed to take last year, but then I came early and surprised everybody. :) But it was well worth the wait - here are some pictures of my time with mom, dad, nana and papa:

Last week was a big week for me - as of Monday, May 4th, I have been home from the hospital for one whole year! Thursday, May 7th was my due date and therefore I am "officially" one year old and exactly a week before I turned "1", I took three steps to my mama! :)

Trevor's Final Four

Hi Everyone,
I have had some requests for updated pictures and some news on how I have been doing . . . so, I thought I would give you my "Final Four" pic's on some of my favorite things . . . Top Four words I can say:
1) Hi (this was my first word)

4) Bat (as you can see I like my yellow bat)

Top Four games I like to play:
1) Peek-a-Boo (as seen above)
2)Driving my race car (that my uncle Timmy and aunt Hollywood gave me) -
I can really push the button on the remote to make it go and turn - my Nonnie taught me how!
3) Patty-cake (I like to roll that dough!)
4) Playing Ball (rolling them, putting them in a hoop, kicking them - I love it all)

Top Four things that make me laugh:
1) Pretty much anything my Daddy does - especially when he dances around or chases after me and mommy.
2) Being tickled
3) When Andy from the TV show "The Office" sings
4) Watching Dog and Cat animal bloopers

Top Four favorite things (besides my fam and friends):
1) DOGS!! I love them - big or small and especially when they bark

4) Learning to walk - crawling is fun too - but standing is my favorite

I just got a call from Mary Birch this week and they said we are able to buy the crib! They were so very thankful and they are going to have a plaque made for the crib. Jeff and I are overwhelmed by all of your generosity. It has been so amazing to watch so many come together around a common purpose to do something really awesome for the babies in the NICU. What a blessing for our family to watch this community do something great together. Trevor's 1st Birthday will forever be memorialized. Thank you. You are all amazing.

Trevor's Warrior Fund - My Birthday Wish

Hi Everyone, I bet you can't believe that I will be one year old soon (my parents sure can't). Well, I thought the best way to celebrate the first year of my life, would be to give back to the place that helped me grow from a 1lb 14 oz preemie to the healthy baby my parents got to take home on May 4th. So, my one wish for my birthday is to be able to buy a new crib for the Mary Birch NICU. Here's a picture:

They are pretty tricked out and have everything that a preemie would need to help them along the way to recovery. I recently found out that they only have six of these cribs and about half the babies in there need a crib (the others are still in an isolette, cause they need the extra warmth), so the ones that don't get this crib go into what my mom refers to as "a plastic tub on wheels". Basically, not the homiest of places. I was fortunate enough to get one of the nice cribs when I was there and well it made it feel more like home, as you can see from the pictures below:

Somehow knowing my animals were there to keep me company when my parents were not was comforting to them.

And every night before my parents left to go home to sleep they would pray that angels would watch over me from the four corners of this crib and protect me while they couldn't be there. My hope is that we can provide the same safe, comfortable, home like place for another baby warrior who is in the NICU fighting for their life.

So, for my birthday I want to do a fundraiser to help purchase one of these cribs. They aren't cheap, so really need all the help I can get. These specially made cribs are $3,186.75, but with your help, I think we can do it! Any amount will help and you will be making a BIG difference to so many more children and families for years to come.

My New Year's Resolutions, by Trevor Jalen

So, I've been sitting back thinking about what I want to accomplish this year, and here's the rundown:
1) Learn to speak a foriegn language (English).
2) Find a fuel efficient form of transportation (walking). Here's my latest trick:

3) Really sink my teeth into a new project (that is once I get a few more - I currently have three and counting!)
4) Get fat . . . that is put on some extra pounds. Though my belly is looking much rounder these days:

5) Take my self less seriously (embrace my silly side):

6) Spend more time with family (here's me with some now):

7) Make some more new friends (here's me with one of my newest friends Luke Tankersley and below with the guy who always got my back, Spence Richards). :)

8) And finally, be thankful for everyday, cause I know they are worth fighting for.

Time Flies . . .

Sorry, it's been so long since I blogged, but my family has been keeping me pretty busy. Lots of birthday's . . . started out with my dad's, cousin Jen's and cousin Braydn's B-days in November, then my Nana Rose's b-day, onto my Papa Roses' and Aunt Deano, to my Papa Fox's and then baby Jesus and then finally my mom's to round out December! What a month of celebrations!

I especially LOVED Christmas . . . what a special first this was for me. I heard the Christmas story from the Bible for the first time as Papa Rose read it aloud . . . how amazing that Mary (9 months pregnant) rode on a donkey and gave birth in a manger . . . and I thought my birth was a difficult one!

It was so special to spend this time with family and friends. And even though I couldn't buy my mom and dad a gift, they smiled at me and told me I was their best gift of all.

And now today, we are celebrating another year passing and new year beginning. And what a year it has been. I thought it would be cool to go back to the NICU to visit some old friends and they couldn't believe how BIG I had gotten . . . you see, I see myself everyday, so I hardly notice the change, but they reminded me of what a long way I had come. They said there was no trace of the NICU still on me and reminded me how blessed I am to be so healthy today, after all I had been through this year. Here's a picture of me and one of my primary nurses, Dulce . . . remember her . . . she was always setting me up with other cute baby girls from the NICU. :)

I love you daddy - for sooo many reasons . . . the way you make me laugh (even if it means personal injury to you), how you work so hard to take care of mommy and me, the way you lay next to me and rub my head to help me go to sleep, the way you lay your hand on me each night and pray for me before you go to bed, when we watch football together, cuddling on the couch, and the way you spring out of bed the moment you hear my little cry, no matter what time of night it is. You are the best daddy a kid could hope for and I hope this birthday is your best yet!

My daddy cracks me up!

Developmental update: Good news - the doc says I am on track for a 6 month old (ie: starting to sit on my own, babbling, passing toys from one hand to the other, picking up small objects). They will continue to adjust my age back three months until I am two years old. So, I guess I get to turn two and jump ahead three months in life . . . a time travel of sorts. Should be interesting . . . I'll have to keep you posted on that.
One small concern was that I still am not gaining weight very fast. I am in the lowest 5% for 6 month olds and I keep hovering at 14lbs. I have a Doctor's visit next week, so hopefully they can help us figure out how to get the pounds on me. I also have lots of shots next week (Yuck!) including a shot to prevent me from getting RSV (basically the flu x10, and bad news for preemies who have had lungs issues). But, after that I should be all set for a while. I just have to go back in to the Developmental specialist in 6 months for another assessment. We are so thankful that with everything that could be wrong, the biggest thing we have to worry about is my weight. Praise God for his continued protection and for all the prayers and love from all of you.

I've got a big week ahead . . . I go to Children's Hospital on Tuesday for a 6 month Developmental Screening to see if I am on pace with my 6-month adjusted age (basically they want to see how I am doing with all the milestones as if I was born on my due date).

I think I am doing pretty good . . . see I am already learning how to sit up by myself:

Then on Thursday a nurse comes out here to see us for our 6 month (since I have been home) check-up. BTW - did I tell you my eyes are all good! I don't have to go back to the eye doc for a whole year!

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for my eating, cause I am doing much better. God heard our cry and sent me to a new doc for a second opinion who put me on some new meds and I am feeling much better. Not even a fuss when it comes time to eat, just gobble, gobble! Please pray that this continues so I can keep growing!

NICU Reunion, A special shower, and other notables

So, the NICU at Mary Birch Hospital had a reunion for all the babies who have ever had to stay there. The funny thing about reunions is that it seems like everyone is fatter and bald, but hey, were babies, so that's a good thing! :) Anyway, I got to see some of my girlfriends, my nurses, the doctors and a lot of other friends. Many of my friends are doing really well - I can't believe how BIG they are! Some of my friends are still having a hard time breathing or have minor health issues and still need our prayers. My mom and dad and I got to make a video together and my picture went into the scrapbook that will be there year after year. It made me think about how far I've come and how much I have to be thankful for. Here are some pictures from the day: Nicole and Erin sandwich!

Home from the doc - and we are going to try two weeks of Zanex to see if it helps with my eating . . . it's for reflux. If that doesn't work than they may have to run some more tests and also send me to the Occupational Therapist. We are praying this works! :)

Well, I have to head back to the Dr's again today, cause I am just not eating enough and now I have funny rash all over . . . can't seem to catch a break. The nurse said most likely we will have to be referred to an Occupational Therapist, who can help me figure out this eating thing. So, just keep me in your prayers today.

So, my dad calls me the new 2008 Hybrid Baby, because I apparently need less fuel than most babies. The lactation specialist called it a nursing strike, and at first the doctor called it a developmental stage . . . but basically I am not that into eating. After over three weeks of it, mom took me back to the Doctor and I was sent over to Children's Hospital for some x-ray's on my stomach (not my favorite). The good new is the x-rays came back fine, but we still are not sure why I don't like to eat very often. But since I seem to be okay in all other areas, I guess I am getting enough . . . so hence the name Hybrid Baby . . . more miles to the gallon than those other milk guzzlers.

. . . don't tell my mom. Sorry it's been so long, but I had to wait till she took a nap, so I could sneak online & write to all my friends & family. If my mom found out that I could type then she wouldn't get so excited when I simply grab a toy or push up on my belly (and I love the way she claps for me). Oh yeah, I don't think she knows I can drive either . . . so keep that quiet!She has been keeping me busy . . . from my first trip to Sea World with my Aunt Jen and cousin Braydn . . .

6 MONTHS OLD!

Can you believe it . . . I am 6 months old today!

I know, I know, I only look like a 3 month old, but I have the wisdom of a 6 month old and I have life experiences way beyond that! :) I mean, what other 6 month old babies do you know that have a blog? Okay, I guess there are a few, but they are have pretty amazing stories too.

Anyway, just reflecting on my journey so far . . . Here is a look at me on my first day . . .

And now, I am two feet long and we will find out how much I weigh on Monday at my Dr's apt. (BTW, I have to get more shots, so keep me (and my mom) in your prayers).

Well, I will write more when I have a chance, but for now I have to go celebrate my 1/2 Birthday! Love ya!

Trevor's Dedication

Sunday was a big day for me . . . my parents took me to church (www.diveintoflood.com) for the first time and they "dedicated" me. I wasn't sure what that meant at first; my cousin thought it meant I was being "donated", which I was glad to find out that wasn't the case. But, I did find out that it means that my parents, my family, friends and church community are "dedicated" to seeing me grow up to be a godly man. My parents committed to raising me in loving, peaceful home, where I could see what it means to grow up in God's grace. Thank you to all my family and friends who came to see me dedicated. I think what my daddy said was right, "Trevor wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the prayers of so many." Thank you all for being my army of prayer warriors.

I came up to the "Trevor Time" theme song. It felt like I had just won a gold medal and they were playing my anthem! (If you are not a Padres fan, this may not make sense - but trust me, it was awesome!).

So, I thought I would list all the names people call me, so you could see just how confusing it is to know what my real name really is . . .

They call me Trev, Trevor J, TJ (T.C and Fran's name for me), Little Warrior, Love Bug, Honey, Sugar Tank, Tasmanian Trevor, Squirt, Angel, Pumpkin Pie, Scooter, Short Round, Punky (that one's from auntie Ned), Pill Pocket (don't ask), Blue eyes, Rosebud (that one was from before they knew I was a boy), and the ever favorite Trevor-Time.

If I forgot some, please feel free to fill them in on the comments section! :)

Guess what . . . I have now been home longer than I was in the hospital. 91 days today/vs 80 days in the NICU. And now I eat without choking and turning blue and I don't even have to sit straight up to take a bottle; I can now breastfeed without a problem; I am off all my medications; some of my scars are becoming barley noticeable; I can hold my head up and don't look like a such a bobble head; and yesterday I grabbed and held onto a toy for the very first time! Now if I could just start sleeping through the night . . . . :)

"Big" Events

Well, I've had some "Big" events in the last couple weeks . . . first off I went to visit my mom's work (Big Brothers Big Sisters) for the first time, and some of the staff there named me the Littlest "Little" of them all. :) My dad is a "Big Brother" and maybe I will be one too when I grow up. (I forgot to get pictures there, so you'll just have to believe me!)

Next, I slept in my Big boy crib all night for the first time . . . no more little bassinet for me! I am still pretty small in it, so my parents scoot me down to the bottom corner, so it feels more cozy to me.

Last, but definitely not least, auntie "Leedles" and auntie "Ned" (see next two pics), with the help of Jamie, Tiffany, Corrie, Nonnie, Aunt Deanne and Aunt Jen threw my mom and I a shower with my mom's favorite desserts and even a drink named after me (the Trevor-tini).

Linsey sang me a beautiful song (there was not a dry eye in the house) and everyone put a book of prayers together for me.

Okay it's official . . . I am a CHUNK!

I stepped on the scales Saturday night and I weighed over 12 lbs!!

Also, I found my thumb last week and it tastes gooood!

I am also learning how to sleep in my Big Boy crib . . . a fun challenge for mom and dad to try to put me to sleep at night . . . I just like to keep them on their toes!

I also threw up for the first time (okay maybe you don't want to hear about all the details), but the funny part was I made sure to get it nowhere else, but on mom!
(No worries though, I am feeling much better now) :)

And not to leave dad out, we were taking photo's with our friend Heather and I thought I should share the joy with dad, so I pooped all over his chest when he was holding me (TWICE!). Love you dad!

So, we had a good 4th of July and I hope you did too. My cousin Jenna got to hold me for the very first time. She will be babysitting me in no time! I also got to take my first dip in the pool . . .

My parents left me for the first time on Saturday night . . . but I didn't mind, cause I was with my favorite nurse and neighbor, Nicole! My parents went out for their 11 year anniversary. I guess that's a long time, but what do I know, I'm not even one year yet.

Hi Everybody! Lots of catching up to do . . .

And a long overdue "shout out" to our dear friend Amie "Sharpie" Bement, who has diligently and creatively updated Trevor's blog since his birth. She has now turned the reins over to mom & dad to keep it updated, but we can not thank her enough for being our lifeline to all of Trevor's friends and prayer warriors during some of the most difficult days of our lives. She often updated the blog in the wee hours of the morning and still managed to make it so thoughtful and creative. We call her the "Voice of Trevor". She gave us a priceless gift of documenting Trevor's life from the beginning. Thank you Amie - WE LOVE YOU!!!

Saturday morning updates

Trev's 4 month B-day was Tuesday and he had to go to the Dr. to get his four month shots - yuk! 5 big shots in the legs - He was very brave, but we had a rough night Tuesday night, but have seemed to turn a corner and doing much better. Big news - Trev weighed in at . . . . 9 lbs, 2 ozs!! and is 20 1/2 in long and his head is now 15 1/2 inches around. For preemies, they "catch up" first in their head size, then their weight and the last thing to catch up is their length. Doc said the lungs sound good and he looks very healthy! Yeah! Also, in the last few days he has seemed to turn the corner on sleeping a little longer. He was feeding every hour and a half and mom was becoming delirious and loosing track of days and nights and was picking up pillows thinking it was a baby that needed to be fed! So, we couldn't be more excited that Trevor is learning to eat a little more and sleep longer, sometimes up to four hours, but mostly around 3. Another answer to prayer is that Trev's "red dots" or hemangeonies (he had five found in the NICU) have completely disappeared. The Doc was amazed. So, no liver ultrasound is needed. Finally, the doc said we can take Trevor out a little bit more as long as we protect him from germs as much as possible, especially when around little kids. So, that is exciting! We are going to do a little road trip up to OC this Friday to see some family and close friends.

Dear Daddy,
I knew from the first days of my life, when you held me in your big, loving hands that you would be my protector. Then you held me on your chest, close to your heart and I have never felt so safe. I knew that day, after day you would be there for me in the hospital, no matter how long your day at work had been or how tired you were, cause I could see in your eyes how much you loved me. You were the first one to call me your Little Warrior, and because you believed in me, I knew I had the strength to get through each day. I felt your hand as you laid it on me each day and heard your voice as you whispered a prayer to God. God heard you and he answered each of your prayers. You were so strong for mommy when she was scared or anxious. You are our rock, Daddy. And now that I am home, there is nothing that I like to do more than lay on your chest and watch a game with you. You are my coach, through every bottle feeding you cheer me on and with each milestone you are so proud of me. People say I look just like you, and that makes me happy, because I hope to grow up someday and be just like my dad . .. . because he is strong, silly, supportive and my hero.

Life at home is great, I get lots of food, lots of friends and lots of attention from nurses here too. and i definitely think the chicks dig me...they keep coming through the front door. My friend Kara, is training to be a nurse so she got to practice on me. We got a home visit from a nurse and while i tried to tell her I was good to go(i do like to talk a lot) but she checked me out and said i hadn't gained much weight, but my lungs are healthy, and my heart beat fast(120bpm) but she said that was normal and she said I looked great..duh... we don't have their pix but I met my future in-laws, Greg and Jill...my parents have arranged a marriage between me and their girls. Keep praying for my parents as they navigate parenting. Pray for my mommy as she tries to make lots of good milk for me and my daddy as he works hard until I can get in the NBA.

I eat every 2-3 hours for an hour, burp, change my diaper, clean up and take a nap, then I'm back at it again. My parents only get 1-2 hours of sleep at once...whew tough work...YIKES!!!

American Gladiator

I know many of you may not recognize me from the picture. I weighed in at 6lbs 12 oz. See as a Gladiator, you have to eat lots, so I've decided to ditch my eating schedule from the NICU and just eat around the clock. My personal trainer, who is also my dad, tells all his clients to eat lots of small meals during the day, so I try to eat at least every 2 hours. You can imagine how much fun that is for my parents:) Part of my training as a Gladiator involves grunting and making lots of noises, so my parents know what I need. I think my parents confuse American Gladiator with American Idol, cuz they are always singing these crazy songs to me. Another part of my training involves working out with my family, as you will see below I get to work out with both my Auntie Deana and Papa Rose who have never held me before, and even my Auntie Leedles got to hold me!!! Continue to pray for the workout my parents get in taking care of me...lots of training, and not a lot of sleep for them. We have an RN from the county coming to visit us on Wed. to see if my training is going well at home and to help with some of my continued feeding issues (choking while feeding). Then we have another eye apt on Friday - and the Dr. says my eyes should be "mature" by then!Me and my aunt D...except we weren't lying sideways like the pix....I can't wait to meet all my cousins!!!Me and my hiking buddy!I love my Papa Rose!!!My Nana takes such good care of me!East County rocks....except when it's like 150 degrees!!!

Thoughts from a mom on her first Mother's Day

Well, it finally hit me full force today . . . I am a mom. What a journey it has been. God's timing is perfect. If it were up to me, I would have been pregnant five years ago, but thank God I'm not in charge. I would have missed out on so much I had to learn along the way. Even through many struggles these last five years and the grief of miscarriage, God knew that today my joy would be made complete in this precious baby boy. Eighty days in the NICU, though some of the hard! est moments of our lives, made today all the sweeter and more precious and we praise God for His unwavering faithfulness to us through it all.
What a journey this has already been, and yet it is all just beginning. Through tears, I reflected on the day in the hospital when they told us blood was not getting to Trevor's left foot and all his toes were completely blue and today I celebrated as I kissed his perfect pink, little toes. I recognized too that many people have been taking this journey with us and it is due to your support and prayers that we celebrate this Mother's Day. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And happy Mother's Day to all the moms (especially to my two amazing moms).

Today, May 7 is my actual due date...crazy how God orchestrates things eh?
These are pic's from our last day in the hospital and our overnight there, as well as some from home and at my first Pediatrician visit. We are doing great - I have been adjusting to life at home. We leave some lights on and play music for me at night, so that it is a little more like the NICU. I still has some eating issues and scare mom from time to time when milk goes to the lungs instead of the belly - but we are getting better. I has technically left the hospital, but we still seem to have to see a lot of Dr.'s. Today we saw my Ped. and tomorrow we have an eye Dr. apt and then a Follow up apt with the surgeon who did my hernia surgery to get the bandages removed. Lots of follow up calls from Hospital and insurance workers . . . maybe in a week or so it will start to feel "normal" - whatever that is. For now, we are just enjoying being together - every second is prec! ious and it is truly sureal having him home. My last day in the NICU was really emotional - having to say goodbye to my "second family". A huge shout out to all my Dr's and nurses and staff - we can never say thank you enough for all they did for us. We ended our stay of 80 days with me weighing in at 5lbs 11oz. Now I'm is already over 6 pounds - go Mom and Dad!!! Must be all those late night feedings. :) We wish everyone could come and see me, but the Dr's have told us to keep me inside the house for the first month or so. And no crowds for about three months. Please pray that mom and dad don't go too stir crazy. Thank you to all Trevor's pray warriors - we couldn't have made it through the last three months without you.I love my nurses!!!Our last night in the NICU

WHOOOHOOOO!!!! My mom and dad are going to have a sleepover with me Saturday night!!!
The Dr. came by today and thinks I might go home on Sunday, but before then, my parents get to do a trial run. Saturday night, we are going to sleep (yea right) together with no monitors in a room next to the NICU. The nurses will check on us once during the night, but we are pretty much on our own...unless of course we need any help. If things go well, that will be a good indication that we are all ready to go home!!! Continue to pray for God's timing: that I will be ready to come home, that my parents would have the confidence and peace they need. My parents will be meeting with the Dr.'s on Saturday to go over any questions/concerns...pray that this will answer any fears/questions they have!!!I'll miss my friends in the NICU My nurse Nicole...i love her!!!!

Good News (Wednesday Updates)

Well do you want the Good news or the GOOD NEWS? First good news is I am hungry...today I ate over 90 ml of milk...thats the most ever!
The other good news is if I keep doing this well, there is a strong possibility I'm going home. Again, nothing is set in stone, but it is quite possible that I might be hanging out with no tubes, at my very own crib.
WHAT CAN YOU DO???? One thing that would be so helpful is to provide meals for my parents. They wont be able to take me out in public much (cuz I'm so darn good looking) so they will be spending a lot of time at home and it would be great if you could bring them a hot meal. We are needing about 15 people to deliver a meal during the month of May. If you are interested email leeanatankersley@diveintoflood.com

So if you are getting a little discouraged cheering for our Padres...maybe you could cheer for me!!!
I need some fans rootin' for me now!!!

I had a great weekend...even though it was like 700* outside, I hit some homeruns with eating and sleeping and breathing and all that stuff...but today my batting average was not so good.

I just wasn't in the groove today and had a little trouble figuring out eating and breathing and maybe it was all the home games, but I just wore myself out...it's like I was stuck on 1st base with 2 outs and 2 strikes...I was pooped! (Plus my girlfriend Em, left...so I was suffering a little from heartache for her)

If you're in the stands cheering for me: cheer for: good breathing and eating...that I can just continue to make progress and figure out how to do it all on my own, all at once. I need strong breaths and good eats. ( I can't wait till I peanuts and hot dogs) Cheer for 5 days....the Dr. says if I have 5 straight days with no help breathing and no stimulation...it's a HOME run baby...no literally, I'm going home. Cheer for my parents, as they have spent so much time in the dugout (NICU) that it can be a little scary thinking about the HOME game.

Overtime: I passed both my eye and ear exam today!!! whooptidoo!!!

I am still off O2 and since yesterday they took out the feeding tube - so I have to eat all by myself. They are now just feeding me when I wake up or no more than 4 hours after the last feed. So, it is taking a lot of energy for me to continue doing it all by myself. I didn't gain weight yesterday, but I didn't loose any either. So, pray that I can eat enough to gain some pounds...enjoy the pix..this is me post-op

You would think that most babes would have a hard time after a big boy surgery...but not me!!! I was off nasal canuala yesterday since 11:30 am...all they had to do was shoot me a little O2 out of a mask at the end of the day cuz I was keeping so busy eating and sleeping and loving my mommy and my daddy. I am at the Step Down side (which is where all the really big boys...and really athletic and smart boys go!!!) and the Dr. seems to think I could be outta here in a week or two!!!! Pray for my parents as I am sure this is crazy to think about actually having a babe with no tubes or nurses attached!!! Thanks for your prayers!!!!

Trevor got "the works" when he went into surgery today. The surgeon fixed two hernias, pushed his bowel in and circumsized him, and Trevor is a better man for it! Trevor was supposed to be on the ventilator after surgery for up to 12 hours but as they were transferring him from Children's to Mary Birch, he looked up at his mommy and started breathing on his own. And after 30 minutes he was off the ventilator. His blood gas levels (CO2 and O2) are better than when he went into surgery and having the ventilator was actually a blessing in disguise because it cleared a bunch of fluid that was in his lungs, that was probably making it hard for him to breathe all this time. He started on nasal canula at 100% and is down to 30% and may be off it completely within 24 hours. Pray for Trevor's primary nurse who has been taking great care of him all day. Pray that he can eat tonight, since he hasn't eaten since midnight. Pray for continued quick recovery and pray for Mom and Dad as they recover too. Thank you to everyone who prayed and supported us today!

Hernia Surgery on Thursday

I have surgery at 9:40 AM on Thursday. The surgery will be 2 1/2 hours long, I will recover at Mary Birch (where they say it could take 7-12 hours to get off the ventilator). They will stop feeding me at midnight tonight. Please pray I will be comfortable and my mom and dad will sleep well this evening. Pray for no infection, smooth surgery and a quick recover. Look for updates Thursday afternoon.

This is me when I was born..And this is me now.....can you believe it!!!! If you think of it...pray for all my friends in here with me, who are small like I used to be.
And in case you haven't heard....this is me....with no O2 for over 4 hours...that's right baby!!!
my mom fed me a bottle for the first time yesterday, I am up to 43 ml of the good stuff and I am almost to 5 lbs!!!Mom also gave me a bath with no help from the nurses...I do love splashing around with her!!
Pray that we can see the surgeon today about my hernia's, still no word about the surgery!

I am doing great!!! Pray we find out about a surgery date tomorrow. I am taking up to four bottles a day now and can scarf down 41ml in 15 minutes! I am on the lowest Oxygen setting they can go, but needs a little extra O2 when I eats so they are not ready to take me off it quite yet.

There are also some pic's from the shower that Big Brothers Big Sisters threw me on Friday - what fun! My Great aunt was able to come and that was special too.Yea!!!! Nonnie!!

We have two birthday's to celebrate today. I am 37 weeks old, and my Nonnie Vonnie, is 60!!!!

Sorry fans...I've been a little distracted by all the ladies...as you can see evidenced below. So I don't know about you, but I'm ready to be oxygen free...I've had a few bradies and am still on low oxygen...pray that I can really get the hang of breathing on my own.
3 may be the magic number for some, but not me...I now have another hernia...and it HURTS. Seriously can you imagine having 3 hernias...and I'm like 4 lbs, you weight like a bazillion more than me (you're not fat) They are just so uncomfortable and make it hard to go to the bathroom. Pray that my parents can get a date scheduled for the surgery sooner rather than later gator. Lastly, they have found some more red dots on me...which causes a little bitty concern for my liver....lets just pray they disappear and that my liver is as healthy as yours

Today I am 8 weeks old....and to celebrate I have lots of pictures to share with you!!!

I had a great nap with dad today. I decided to hold onto the Nasal Canula for another day, but I am still on the lowest setting. I pretty much don't need it when I am sleeping, but when I am up feeding I need a little extra O2 - so they are going to ween me off slowly. I am off caffeine now, so I am on my own for extra stimulus to remember to breath. My feedings have also changed and are now going over an hour instead of two hours, which will encourage me to wake up hungry and better take a bottle or nurse. I did great breastfeeding today - and went for a half hour, before dozing off to sleep.
Big news: I have officially moved over to hang out with my posse in Step Down. But that means no more VIP room for me, so pray I continue to improve. I also gained some weight...I am 4 lbs!!!!

Whatzup? Here's whatzup....if all goes well tonight I will be going off oxygen...that's right MVP all the way!!! That means the only tube that will be connected to my face will be my feeding tube!

Me and the National Championship team have a lot in common:

-Just like Kansas was down by 9, I am down to .5 lt Canula and low oxygen.
-Just like the game went into OT, I am working overtime to breastfeed.
-Even though Memphis' Rose was shut down, this Rose will not be shut down; I drank over 15 mil by bottle this morning...which is a HUGE WIN for moving me towards regular breastfeeding.
-One (more) Shining Moment...I gained some weight today!!!

Hiya. Today was a fantastic day. It's amazing what a quiet corner suite will do for a guys health.
I'm down to 1 lt. Canula and 20% oxygen....I am beginning to get this breathing thing down..Mom gave me a bath today all by herself...we had a blast...and boy do I smell fresh!!!
The best news of the day has to do with food (of course it does...I'm a guy) The last few times I breastfed, I have stopped breathing, so my mom was a little hesitant in trying again, but the nurse encouraged her to try and I got it with in seconds...and I ate for about 15 minutes and then snoozed....it was soooooo great!

Pray that I can hang out in the VIP room for awhile. I seem to do much better and making progress faster when I'm in here...I seem to thrive where it's quieter...hmmm who do I get that from?

Four Things to be Thankful For:
1-My Breathing: I am down to 1 1/2 lt on Canula, and 20% oxygen: I had a great Friday!!!
2-VIP Room: I was moved to my own private room (shared with 4 others) so they could make room for some more babies. It's actually really great. It's quiet, and way less stress. Much more chill. (pray my transition goes well, as I wait to go to the step down side)
3-My Parents: they are so faithful in taking care of me and visiting me and loving me so well.
4-YOU...thanks for your prayers, food, gift cards and presents. What a treasure!!!

I had a afternoon game today filled with excitement...first I had to get my uniform ready...
They had some oxygen in the dug-out...I was on 30-35%
After I did some stretches...I was ready to plaaaaaaaayyyyy baaaaaallll!!!!
I was visited by some of my biggest fans today...my grandmas!!!! Yea team!!!!
After the game...I was pretty tired...so I had to get some sleep.
Which was followed by an after party with my mom!!!
For a post game wrap up, here's what you can pray for so we have a winning Trevor time tomorrow:
- ERROR!!! I had a few Brady's today....just keep praying for my heart and lungs
-HOME RUN!!!My vision test came back good again.. So I only have to be tested EOW
-FOUL BALL. My weight is down 2 oz's to 3 lbs 10 oz's, because of the diuretic med getting rid of all my extra fluid. So, hopefully we can gain back the weight and then some soon.
-PEANUTS AND BEER....Tomorrow we are hoping to try breastfeeding again, if my breathing stays below 70 resperations per minute.

It was just me and my dad most of the day, so the ladies really put the moves on me all day. The nurses dressed me in my best duds and I met some of the single girls down the hall. Afterwards I had a short photo shoot and a few playdates with some of the other ladies. But hey that's how I roll....besides all the female attention my health is great too. My oxygen is down to 30-35%, my breathing is still a little fast but that could have been from all the hot girls taking my breath away:) It was great to spend some time with my dad, we hung out, prayed together and discussed the upcoming basketball weekend. All that to say I am truly thankful for all the women in my life.

Monday Updates

I had a great day yesterday. I grew an inch...i will dunk a basketball, oh yes I will. I am up to 3 lbs 12 oz...I have been retaining a lot of liquids though, so they put me on diuretics. So I may lose a little weight. Pray that I can gain weight at a steady pace. Speaking of gaining weight. I got to breast feed for the first time. As long as I continue doing well with my breathing, I can continue to try out breast feeding. I am still doing well and very comfortable and peaceful in my big boy crib.

Today was a pretty big day....I hadn't pooped in a while, so the nurse pushed in my hernia and my poop went everywhere....
I got poop on the wall, poop on all the blankets, poop on my nurse, but hey everybody poops...

It was soooo messy, that the nurses decided to move me to a big boy crib. This means I am in charge of my own body temperature, and I wont be protected from all the noise and lights. So pray that I get lots of rest still.

This is my cousin Jen. Can you tell good looks run in the family??? It was so fun to finally get to meet one of my cousins!!!

Like I said...good looks run in the family:) Keep praying for my breathing. As of Sunday night the oxygen is down to 50%.

All in all today was a good day. I got my iv out of my foot, I'm up to 30 ml of milk. And I am still cuter than ever:) I am still on nasal canula. My oxygen is down to 37% but I am still having trouble breathing. I am breathing really fast and intermittently so I am getting an xray tomorrow to make sure there is no fluid in my lungs. I've got to rest up so I can watch some bball tomorrow with my pops.

Since 7pm Thursday night i've been on nasal canula...so just pray I can get the hang of it this time. I am on 40% oxygen, and we need those levels to be lower...so our prayers today our pretty simple....keep the O2 low low low low....and that I can stay on the nasal canula and not go back to CPAP.
Another crazy thing happened today...so the iv the cute nurses put in my arm to stop the infection, got all puffy so they had to put another iv in my foot...ouch!

On a happier note...today i weighed in at 3lbs 7 oz...that's in the buff too, so I am getting big!!!

Wednesday Updates

Good day dear friends!!!
So I had an interesting Wednesday, I woke up with a rock hard arm, that wasn't from working out with my dad. Apparently there was some inflammation in my arm where my iv had been, so they put an iv in my other arm with antibiotics in it to make sure I didn't get an infection. As of Wednesday night it was doing better but pray that I don't get an infection.

I got to spend a lot of time with my mom and dad today which was so nice for all of us. I'm getting better at sucking on my paci and I had a great rocket poop for my mom today (hey anything to get her to laugh!!!)

Keep praying for my breathing...I need to start making some progress in that area, so keep praying for my lungs to grow big and strong and that I can really get this breathing thing down to a science.

Why is she smiling you may ask???? Because for the first time in my long life, my mom gave me a bath...we had so much fun! They took my monitors off and just held the CPAP and then my mom doused me with warm water in my condo...it really helped get rid of that hospital smell:) The best part of my entire day was the 20 seconds when my mom picked me up in a warm towel and i wasn't hooked up to anything!!! That is the first time since I've seen daylight, that my mom has got to hold me like other moms do...tubeless and CPAPless....I can't wait until every day is like this....

I had a vision test today...of course I passed with flying colors. I still have immature eyes, but everything else is looking good. Speaking of looking good...this is the hot outfit my mom got to dress me in today....birds are in.
This is me sleeping...why? well 1. because I'm a baby...2. because I am at peace today. Peace in my momma's arms, peace that my dad will take care of me and protect me, peace that I inherited good looking genes, peace that God knew what me and my parents needed to have a great day! Strength for Today (Monday Updates)

I think the big prayer for this week is strength for our entire family. My mom went back to work part time...and we both need strength cuz we miss each other so much. Please pray for her as she tries to balance time with me and time at her job. My dad is very strong but needs continual strength as he continues his rigorous schedule. And me...i need strength so I can grow bigger, faster and stronger. I received a blood transfusion Monday, so hopefully that will help a little. I am still on CPAP, which I STILL dislike...there are signs of me getting stronger (or ornery-er) cuz I pulled out my feeding tube:) Pray that my breathing can get stronger, my lungs get stronger and that I can have some rest and peace today.

So I have bad news....I am back on CPAP...I have been working too hard trying to breath on nasal canula, so the Dr put me back on CPAP...and to quote my dad...."I hate CPAP with a passion" I just get really frustrated and uncomfortable with the CPAP. Needless to say it was a hard day for my mommy and daddy. So just pray for us all...for my lungs, that I can grow big and that my parents will have peace and be able to rest.

Today was a great day for so many reasons:
Reason 1: March Madness: My dad updated me on all the upsets and we compared notes.
Reason 2: My mom told me all about Good Friday and Easter

Reason 3: Ta Da!!!! I can wear clothes...as long as I continue to do well with my breathing and my body temperature stays normal, I can sport all my new get ups!
Reason 4: I weigh 3lbs!!!
Reason 5: I only had one major breathing event on Friday
Reason 6: I am so darn cute!
Some Reasons to pray:
Reason 1: I had a little bit of a rough night Thursday night...my temp was over 100 (but they didn't suspect infection - they just thought I was overheated), so they gave me a cool bath and turned my condo air to room temp and by 4am I was fine
Reason 2: Please pray for all my friends in the NICU...so many of them aren't as big as I am, and have a lot more tubes and monitors hooked up to them. They seem pretty sad...so please pray for all my friends and their families.

I am still having breathing issues. I have to get over the Apnea and Brady's before I can go down to 1L Canula and head over to the other side.
Pray for steady deep breaths. I have times where I just like to hold my breath, and then I breathe real fast to make up for it.
I'm so hot...
Apparently I need to learn to control my body temperature, which will actually help with my breathing...take my breath away...

Speaking of taking someone's breath away...apparently I can also heal migraines. My dad said when he sees me it takes his headaches away..
I weighed in at 2lbs 15oz today...so I'm growing...pray that I continue to grow more and more every day!

I got to see my dad today!!!! Yea!!! I missed him so much! Thanks for your prayers...continue to pray for my parents...as they are getting little sleep and little rest....pray that they stay healthy and safe.
I am 33 weeks old today, and I weigh in at 2lbs 13 oz...can you believe it? Pray that I continue to gain weight, and breathe easier. Still had a few episodes today, so just keep lifting up my lungs (and my whole body) to Jesus.

Some fun things happened...my mom learned how to flip me over, I peed all over myself and I might get to wear some clothes soon...although my dad seems to think I wont like how constricting "clothes" are. Thanks again for your prayers and support...they sure are working!

Trevor's Bracketology (Tuesday updates)

Many of you are spending your week filling out brackets, here are some of my helpful hints:

Don't pick all the number one seeded teams: I may not be the biggest boy in the NICU, but keep praying that I will grow big and strong and I will come out a champion.
There are gonna be upsets so take some risks when you choose your team: a couple of days ago I was scaring my mom with all my breathing episodes, having a hard time recovering on my own, but today I did a great job recovering from them.You never know when there is gonna be an injury so pick teams where the bench goes deep: My dad was out with a migraine today, so good thing my mom was around. My mom and I actually spent some time under a blanket together...cuz the room was so bright. She totally thinks I'm the cutest boy ever!!! (and I'm not gonna argue) Pray that my dad gets better...I need all the Rose team playing the game with me.
Check the stats: My stats (vision test) came back good today. I still have immature eyes, so pray my stats get better!
Just because a team has one good game doesn't mean they will tomorrow: I had a GREAT day today. Continue to pray for my breathing, my parents, and my progress. Pray for my sodium level, it was a little lower today than normal.

HOW BIG ARE THE PRAYERS OF THOSE...

... who pray for my daddy, he's getting sick...(and I am still only a month old, so sometimes I can't figure out everything on the computer...that's why the picture is sideways)
...who pray for progress. If I want to progress to the "other side" of the NICU I have to move from the high flow nasal canula to the low flow nasal
...who pray for my red dot. There is a red dot on my stomach, and it's fine now, but if it gets bigger or spreads to other parts of my body the nurses would have to give me some roids (steroids that is) because it affects my liver.

...who pray for my breathing. Today was hard again...good but hard. I had some breathing troubles, and cried a little bit. It just is a big hurdle learning all this breathing stuff. Pray that I can remember to breathe and learn how to recover from a bad breathing episode, on my own.

The Luck of the Irish (Sunday updates)

Some might call me lucky...I would probably say Jesus is watching over me and giving me the determination to push forward in my progress.

Big milestones that happened today:
-my umbilical cord fell off (it's on ebay if anybody wants it:))
-the nurse took new footprint and handprints of me
-I obtained a new condo for big boys (cuz that's how I roll)
-still on nasal canula
-I had kanga time
-my mom and dad fed me milk on a paci...AND I LOVED IT!!!
-feedings are going really well

Big things to pray for:
-I have another vision test this week
-I was breathing really fast yesterday, and they found fluid in my lungs, so they gave me some lasics (sorry I'm not even in kindergarten yet, some of these medical words are hard for me) to get fluid out of my body and it worked. I am breathing better, but still working a little too hard. Pray that my lungs clear up completely
-I had a couple of bradies: pray those stop...sure don't enjoy those
- the nurse thinks I have another hernia on the other side, pray it disappears. My other one also got bigger and she had to push it in.

Birthday Presents (saturday updates)

I received lots of birthday presents today:
I was able to be held in my parents arms so I could just look up at them and gaze at their faces.
I weighed in at 2lbs 12 oz (Dads got me on protein supplements:))

They are fortifying (protein shake) my milk to help me gain weight. Pray I gain weight and I continue to digest well

HIP HIP HURRAY!!!! Raise your hands in the air cuz I can breathe like I just don't care!!!
My Army of Prayer Warriors ROCKS!!! Today at 9am the nurses put me on nasal canula thinking they would have to switch me back and forth to CPAP off and on...and when my parents left tonight I was still on nasula canula!!!
Today was so much different than yesterday...whew~ what a relief! I could go back on CPAP at anytime, but making it as long as I did today was a huge success!!!
My mom got to hold me for over 2 hours...(which made up for ZERO hours yesterday)
Let me out, let me out...no seriously...I received my test results back from my first ever eye test. My test came back with an A+; the only problem is I am like sooooo imature...no I have what's called immature eyes, which is normal for tykes like me.
Today I was much more comfortable and happy. (as seen by my picture above) Thanks again to all the people who prayed and supported me and my parents through the night!!! Keep praying that I put on the pounds!!!

Well, if I have to be honest, I must admit, today was a rough day. A scary day for me and my parents. My breathing just isn't going well....lots of apnia, lots of turning blue. They had to put me on a more intense CPAP that assists me even more in breathing. So lets get down to business and just focus on two things...pray for my breathing, that my brain can tell my lungs to get to work, and that I can learn to breath on my own. Please also pray for my weight that I can gain some...it's as simple as that people...breathing and weight...

2. Get my first catheter....CHECK
2. Kanga time with my parents...CHECK
3. See Nana Rose and Grandpa Fox....CHECK
4. Have 3 of the biggest poops ever when only daddy is around to change me...CHECK
5. Do a pushup....CHECK...no seriously ask the nurse, I totally did a push-up
6. Turn blueish purple...CHECK

YOUR PRAYER CHECKLIST
1. My first catheter was to check my urine for infection and anything else bad...my first test came back clean, but there is still another one to go...pray for no infection

2. I had a good day of breathing but still not great...continue to pray for for my lungs and strength in breathing

3. My digestion still needs to develop and strengthen. Continue to pray for for no infection in my digestion and that my organs will continue to develop

4. Weight...I know you women hate it when guys say this, but i need to put on some weight...the sooner i put on weight, the sooner I get to go home

This is my hand and my mom's hand....ah I sure am blessed to have her by my side every day! I had a much better day today than yesterday. The nurses figured out that probably stuffing my tummy with 22 mil of milk in one hour wasn't such a good idea, so they spread it out over two hours, which made it a lot easier to digest. no record breaking poops today (from me I mean). Continue to pray for my digestive system, heart, vision, and breathing...and don't forget my parents...they are tired and sleepy and so faithful to being by my side as much as they can, continue to lift them up. (p.s. check out all my cute pix below...)

This is a CPAP close up ( and my freaking adorable face) Someone mentioned I should follow in my fathers footsteps and do some modeling? I am practicing my kissing face in this picture. They put me on the Nasal Canula for 3 hours today, but it ended up just taking too much out of me...got to start working out with dad more. It was a good thing though, because when they put me back on CPAP, it was a lot easier, and I realized the CPAP thing isn't so tough afterall.

Good Morning! (Monday Updates)

I've grown 1 inch and almost 1 pound since my birthday over 3 weeks ago! I also had the biggest poop the nurse has ever seen from any babe at my size....big day!!! Pray that I continue to grow and thrive.
I had a great Kanga time with my mom and prayer time with my dad. I had a little bit of a rough time yesterday breathing, I definitely scared my mom when I started turning blue!!! I also didn't do quite as well feeding today. So please continue to PRAY PRAY PRAY for my breathing and my digestion.
